Residents of a townhouse in South Korea contacted local rescuers about a dog that took refuge at the basement parking of the building. Some of them felt it was unsafe for the dog to stay where he was, while others feared for their own safety. Nevertheless, they wanted him out of their residence.
On-site, the rescuers spoke with a few tenants who said that at first, they didn’t think it was a big deal to have a dog around. They thought he was just simply lost. But when they realized he was still there after a while, that’s when they knew something was up.
The rescuers watched the dog for a short while to learn more about his demeanor. Soon after, they discovered that he wandered around the car park area at times but he always came back to one corner. He liked it when there’s no one around and he hid every time he heard someone approaching.
No one could explain why the dog chose to live in such a place, so the rescuers decided to gather more data and ask around. They hoped someone would recognize him, but none of the tenants knew him. Even those who lived outside the complex had no idea where he came from.
Eventually, a woman came to the parking lot and called the dog Happy. She gave him a bowl of food and then walked away. When asked, she said she was a dealer and her company started to supply tiles to the building 3 years ago. It was back then that she first met the dog. But even after all those years, she never managed to touch him.
The rescuers continued to discover the truth and soon connected with a man who was part of the development union responsible for the building of the residential complex. He told them that once the project started, residents began to move out, but most of them left their pets behind. It took some 3 years and 3 months to completely demolish the old houses and 2 years to complete the construction of the new framework.
The data revealed Happy was in the same area for no less than 8 years. Despite the change in the environment, he chose to stay and waited for someone who never showed up.
Fortunately for Happy, the rescuers came and they helped him discover a completely different world. After all his sufferings, he was finally able to see the light.
